What do you do for a living?: EMT
Musical Background: Played trumpet for 11 years (mainly classical), piano for 14 years, and I've made pitiful attempts at bass guitar for a few years.
Hobbies/Interests: Music, EMS, digital photography, writing poetry, figuring out what to go to graduate school for.
How did you first find out about the Greece Jazz Band?: Surfed around the internet trying to find Rochester jazz bands and I stumbled upon the website.
Why did you join the Greece Jazz Band?: I just graduated college and wanted to keep playing. I've missed playing jazz and decided that I wanted to start up again.
What keeps you coming back every week?: The music is challenging and fun, and I really enjoy the rehearsals. It's great to be playing jazz again.
Tell some interesting facts/stories about yourself: I was in college for 5 years because I did the Take Five program at U of R -- my Take Five area of study was Astrobiology (the study of the potential for extraterrestrial life). Basically, I got an entire year of college, tuition-free, to study aliens.
What song best describes you?: Birdland (Maynard Ferguson)
What music do you like best?: Jazz, swing, ska, punk rock -- there's very little that I don't like.
Favorite Musicians: The list is endless. My favorite jazz composer is Ellington, and my favorite classical composer is Alexander Arutunian.
Musically, I wish I could play like: Arturo Sandoval
